Supreme Energy Air Conditioning Advisory

“86” the 22!

Supreme Energy is informing its customers that repairs to malfunctioning central air conditioning equipment may be subject to elevated repair costs this summer due to R-22 Freon related circumstances.

Since the 1990s, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has been phasing out the production of R-22 Freon as it is damaging to the environment and depletes the ozone layer.

The HVAC industry and its customers are now feeling the effects of the phase out. Production of new central air conditioning units with R-22 has ended and by January 1, 2020, the servicing of all R-22 units will rely only on recycled or stockpiled parts, meaning it is increasingly more difficult and more expensive to service and maintain an R-22 system.

Supreme Energy is recommending that your unit be serviced on an annual basis to ensure its continued operation and to stay ahead of any potential breakdowns, which could be costly to repair. For more information regarding the EPA’s phase out of R-22, click here: https://www.epa.gov/ods-phaseout.

Emergency Repair of Air Conditioning

If your unit is no longer running, blowing hot air or has a leak in the Freon lines, repairing might not be your best option. Given the cost to repair an R-22 system, we advocate upgrading to a new system, which operates on an EPA approved, non-ozone depleting refrigerant known as R-410A. These units are environmentally-friendly, energy efficient, and readily available for immediate installation, with parts on hand for repairs.

Whether it is routine maintenance, emergency repairs, or new equipment installations, Supreme Energy is here to keep you cool this summer! We offer free estimates on all new equipment and money-saving coupons on our website, including $250 off the installation of a new central air conditioning system.
